A band of rain will push into the West of Ireland this morning and will bring heavy rain to many parts as it moves East.

Part of the Mid West could see upto and possibly over 50mm in 24 hours. As this system moves East it is forecast that parts of the East could see upto 50mm in a 24 hour period.

There is also a risk of thunderstorms this afternoon which could bring torrential rain and frequent lightning.
